The Story Behind The Cozy Cube

Hey, I’m Ash! 👋

I’m a Melbourne mum of two, a university student and the person behind all things The Cozy Cube. The ideas, the illustrations, the packing orders… that’s me! Usually with a coffee nearby and another idea I probably don’t have time for. 🤭

A little something for me

Before The Cozy Cube, I was a hairdresser. I resigned from my career to become a stay-at-home mum, and life with two under two soon became my whole world.

I loved being home with my babies, but I also missed having a creative outlet. Something to get excited about, put my own stamp on and grow alongside motherhood. I had no idea a little sheet cubby would become that something.

It started with a sheet cubby

One day, I made my kids a cubby from a sheet and drew a café on one side and an ice cream shop on the other. Watching them disappear into their own little world, I couldn’t stop thinking about what else it could become.

At the same time, studying my Bachelor of Early Childhood and Primary Education was teaching me just how much happens through imaginative play. The conversations, the problem-solving, the taking turns and the wonderful stories children dream up—it all sparked my fascination.

I wanted to make this kind of play easier for families. Something fun and simple to set up, with plenty of possibilities, that could pack away when the living room needed to be a living room again!

From doodles to little worlds

In July 2025, The Cozy Cube officially launched with our Local Legends play panels: little cafés, bakeries, ice cream shops, farmers markets, pet shops and vet clinics, ready for children to make their own.

Then came our Adventure collection, followed by Storybook, opening up even more ways to play, perform, explore and imagine.

Every design was illustrated by me. Seeing an idea go from a drawing to something my own kids—and now yours—can play with has been one of the most special parts of this whole adventure.

And then came the Corner Tents… 🏕️

We didn’t have the space for a big playhouse or a tent taking over the room, so I started thinking about the corners we weren’t using. Could one become a little hideaway without swallowing up the whole space?

That idea became our reversible Corner Tents: a cozy spot for stories, quiet moments and whatever adventure the kids have planned. Add a play panel and suddenly their little hideaway can become a café, a shop or a vet clinic!

A little business with a lot of heart

What began as a creative outlet during life with two under two has grown into something I’m so proud of. I launched with an idea I couldn’t let go of, and I haven’t looked back.

I’m still juggling mum life, uni and a small business, learning as I go. Behind the photos and parcels is a real family, a very full life and a mum who loves making ordinary spaces a little more fun.
